Notes from WELD's Laboratory

Content Marketing And Gamification, Oh, My

March 28, 2011 by

“What do you do?”  That’s what people ask other people. But does anyone ever ask you why you do what you do?

What if that was the normal way to begin every conversation when you meet someone and inquired about their vocation?

WELD, Why, Content Marketing & Gamification

I recently gave a presentation to the West Virginia chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, and that was sort of my premise.

I veered way off that, of course.  I talked about how I love the unique culture of WELD, and using passion to manifest a little sustainable action, and how that just needs a well told story, and why a well told story works for just about any cause you could champion. (Our cause is getting people pumped on adrenaline, buffeted by the elements you find out-of-doors.)

I have yet to give a presentation that goes just as I’ve written it. That’s why I’m publishing both the notes of the talk I wanted to deliver, along with the audio of the talk that was actually articulated.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

That’s how it came out, though I was working off these presentation notes. Nerves contributed, sure, but I think I came pretty close to my goals at the end of the talk.

I’d love to hear your feedback. Why do you do what you do?

I always learn something new by reading Reid’s posts.

I hear you, Chad. Reid has produced some great posts and this is one of my all time favorites. I loved the mixed media. I’m calling it a “Slidogcast.”

“Slidogcast.” It’s the beginning of a whole new form of content marketing :)

Thanks, Chad! I think the more we all think out loud like this and share it, the more we all learn.

True that. True that. You’re welcome. And thank you for keeping me current on content marketing strategy.
