Spilman: Making It Easier To Recruit Attorneys

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009 by Reid Williams

Here’s some of our recent client work from the video department, and if it wasn’t so fun making videos, then this one would have me thinking about going to law school and becoming an attorney.

Spilman, Thomas and Battle is a regional law firm headquartered in Charleston, with over 100 attorneys practicing nearly every specialty of law. Another amazing number: The firm has existed since 1864. We’ve done web work for the firm in the past and they recently brought us on to reinvigorate their recruiting program.

Like all our clients, we’re working to turn Spilman into a publishing machine, attracting new attorneys or prospective clients through the leadership they exhibit in person or in the intellectual content they produce showcasing their innovation and achievements. We’re explaining that the right kind of content and leadership will magnetize the curious when they come looking for you. (more…)

Can 10 People Empower 90,000?

Friday, July 24th, 2009 by Reid Williams

Led by our partners at Mythology, a marketing strategy and management services firm, WELD has been contracted by Computer Sciences Corporation to help augment their foray into the cloud computing arena.

Now, wait a minute, you say? Who could dare to compete with companies on that scale? (more…)

WELD is proud to announce its selection as the digital marketing and ecommerce solution provider for MountainMade, Inc. Our business, technical and creative teams are excited about the challenge of connecting West Virginia’s finest craftsmen and -women with lovers of handmade goods around the world.

The MountainMade board selected WELD to develop a new online storefront that will feature not only merchandise, but will tell the story of the Mountain State’s artisans and traditions.

We have quite a bit of work ahead of us — our challenge is to get the store ready for winter holiday shopping — but this is the kind of new media communications work that really gets us motivated. (more…)

What Is An ‘Agency,’ Really?

Friday, June 5th, 2009 by Reid Williams

WELD is by no means an “advertising agency” in the traditional sense. We do strive, however, to redefine what it means to be an “agency.”

What’s the definition of an agency?

Historically, we’re talking about the one-stop-shop for advertising and marketing, an organization capable of media buys (think TV spots and billboards), market strategy and campaign planning, and producing the creative content and/or orchestrating that work among specialty shops.

But little guys like us, we can’t do all that.

We’re probably best categorized along the lines of one of those boutiques, given our specialization in the digital space.

There’s another definition of agency we like, though. (more…)

Some Clients Make Marketing So Easy

Monday, April 27th, 2009 by Reid Williams

If a company really is that great, if their products and services are so wonderful, it doesn’t take much of a marketing firm to bring in the customers. The crowd will do all the talking.

The most effective marketing is word of mouth — your customers telling their friends and family what a great experience they had with your company, how they shouldn’t wait to try your products, visit the store, make a reservation, etc.

That’s the definition of “remarkable”: Your company has something worth talking about.
