So, Is It OK To Sell On Social Networks?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009 by Reid Williams

Razorfish Graphs On Social Network Brand EngagementThere’s an ongoing debate here at the WELD Global Headquarters about whether people who sign up for online social networks really want to receive sales messages. We know that social media users readily interact with businesses and brands just like their friends, but do they actually buy products and services as a result of that?

This is a pretty critical question — especially if you’re in a business like ours, recommending and executing digital marketing strategies such as, say, getting a client’s organization active on Facebook and Twitter.

“What?” you might be asking. (more…)

Marketers everywhere are looking for ways to capture the attention of the more-than-200 million people active on Facebook. It just so happens the social network provides a great application for this: High-definition video.

Let’s use one of our clients, O.A.R.S., as a good example.

The California-based O.A.R.S. was honored by National Geographic Adventure Magazine as the No. 1 outfitter in the world. O.A.R.S. takes guests on whitewater and multi-sport adventure vacations in the U.S., Canada, South America and Fiji.

O.A.R.S. has a great digital marketing strategy that includes a website with a regularly updated blog and a library of high-definition videos. But they also employ a Facebook page and use the social network as another platform for showcasing that video content. (more…)
